This extremely rare contract is a one page notarized official State of Tennessee legal agreement and was signed by Elvis Presley just after he officially became an adult of 21 years. The contract, dated January 25, 1956, specifies that Elvis had entered into certain management contracts with Col. Parker as a minor (20) on November 21, 1955 (they were not officially legally binding as Elvis was still a minor) and that since reaching adulthood on January 8, 1956, Elvis agrees to abide by the earlier signed contracts. Col. Tom Parker had Elvis sign this contract to verify legally that his "hot property" would not disappear from underneath his greedy hands.
Even though Elvis had signed contracts before this date, this was the first official contract with the Colonel legally confirming Elvis' adult status and making the previous contracts legally binding.
When Elvis was first signed to Colonel Tom Parker as his "talent", Elvis was still a minor and could not officially legally sign as a adult the appropriate contracts with the Colonel himself. Upon reaching the age of 21, Presley signed this agreement, legally confirming that the original agreements still stood as current agreements. This one page, sheet of paper is that statement of confirmation by Presley that his commitment to the Colonel as his manager remained firm. The agreement is dated 25th January, 1956 - 17 days after Elvis' 21st birthday.

On this 25 day of January, 1956, before me personally appeared Elvis Presley, to me known to be the individual described in and who executed this instrument, and he duly acknowledges to me that on November 21, 1955, he entered into and signed certain management and representation agreements with Col. Thomas A. Parker, that said instruments were formerly signed and executed by him when he was still an infant under the age of 21 years, that he has since arrived at full age and is desirous of confirming the signing and execution of said agreements, and he now acknowledges that he does hereby confirm said agreement as and for his act and deed, for the purposes therein contained.
